College Football Playoff announces events surrounding National Championship Game

TAMPA – The College Football Playoff CFP National Championship 2017 Live announced information on the events that will take place in Tampa Bay leading up to the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship.Championship Campus, which will stretch from Amalie Arena along Tampa’s picturesque waterfront, will host CFP signature events that are expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors to downtown Tampa.AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! is a free three-day music festival that will take place at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Eric Paslay will perform Friday, Jan. 6, along with The Shadowboxersand Clare Dunn. Flo Rida will headline Saturday, Jan. 7, with an additional performance by Cold War Kids. Jay Pharoah will serve as a special guest host Sunday, Jan. 8, with Ushertaking center stage as the headline act. Additional Sunday performances include Gavin DeGraw and Jamie N Commons.

Playoff Fan Central will take place at the CFP Championship 2017 Final Live Stream Tampa Convention Center. Family-friendly experiences such as youth clinics, autograph sessions and pep rallies will highlight the three-day event. Playoff Fan Central runs Friday, Jan. 6 (3-8 p.m.), Saturday, Jan. 7 (noon-8 p.m.), and Sunday, Jan. 8 (noon-8 p.m.). Single-tickets are $8 ($10 day of event) and children 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Groups of 20 or more can be purchased for $5 per ticket.

On Saturday, Jan. 7 (9 a.m.-noon), fans are invited to attend Media Day at the Amalie Arena. The event is free. Fans will have a unique opportunity to watch members of the national media conduct interviews with coaches and student-athletes prior to the title game. ESPN will broadcast live from the event.The Extra Yard 5K on Sunday, Jan. 8, will benefit the College Football Playoff Foundation and Extra Yard for Teachers. Registration is $30 for the 5K and $15 for the fun run. The event will begin at 8 a.m.Taste of the Championship is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 8 (7-10 p.m.) at the Florida Aquarium. Ticket holders will experience an exclusive night of great food and entertainment featuring some of the most exclusive chefs in Tampa and some of college football’s greatest legends. Proceeds from the elegant event benefit the College Football Playoff Foundation.

Finally, to celebrate the first College Football Playoff CFP National Championship Final Live played in Tampa, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and CFP have teamed up for Championship Beach Bash, which will take place Sunday, Jan. 8 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.) at Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach. Alabama vs. Washington, College Football Playoff semifinal: TV info, live stream, game time

Alabama and Washington will face off in a College Football Playoff semifinal in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Eve. The Crimson Tide (13-0) will be the No. 1 seed after going undefeated through the regular season and beating Florida 54-16 in the SEC championship game. Washington (12-1) is the No. 4 seed after CFP National Championship Live Streaming beating Colorado 41-10 in the Pac-12 championship game. The Huskies’ lone loss this season came against USC, whom the Crimson Tide beat 52-6 in its season opener.

No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Ohio State will play in the Fiesta Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona in the other College Football Playoff semifinal matchup on Dec. 31. Alabama is the only team in the nation that has made an appearance in all three seasons of the CFP. The Crimson Tide, as the No. 1 seed in 2014, lost to 42-35 to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl; last season, as the No. 2 seed, the Tide beat Michigan State 38-0 in the Cotton Bowl and Clemson 45-40 in the national championship game. Washington will be making its first appearance in the College Football Playoff.Alabama has won 25 consecutive games; the Crimson Tide’s last loss was 43-37 at home against Ole Miss on Sept. 19, 2015. Overall, Alabama has won four of the past seven national championships. The Crimson Tide also has won three SEC championships in a row and four of the past five.

Alabama is led by coach Nick Saban, who is now in his 10th season with the Crimson Tide; Washington is in its third season under Chris Petersen, who previously had a successful eight-year stint as Boise State coach.Both Alabama and Washington have talented young starting quarterbacks in true freshman Jalen Hurts and sophomore Jake Browning.Alabama leads the all-time series 4-0 with its last win coming in the 1986 Sun Bowl. The Crimson Tide’s first win over the Huskies came in the 1926 Rose Bowl.
